3 Essential Concepts To Future-Proof Your Career

Okay, by now, everyone has heard the spiel already right?

The Air Era is scary.
Jobs are going to disappear.
Industries are down and Automation is going to take over most of the professions we know of.

And you know, it's not just May Sim and her doom and gloom webinars that are talking about it,

So even many Experts, Economists, Academics even Nobel Peace Prize winner, Jeffrey Hinton.
Who is often hailed as the godfather of AI, has predicted that by mid of 2027, most mundane intellectual labour or basically white-collar jobs,
will be completely replaced.

So, I'm recording this as of March of 2026.
So that prediction is only about a year away right?

So how much should you worry?

Now, if you live in Singapore as I do, according to The Straits Times, apparently 3 in 5 employers are not planning to hire anyone in 2026.
That means no new jobs!

And it doesn't guarantee that these non-hiring employers are not going to reduce jobs.

Now in fact, governments seem to be spending quite a bit of time trying to come up with rules and guidelines on how to retrench people.
And that pretty much tells you what's on the cards right?
And what I'm describing here is just for Singapore.

But, I'm pretty sure if you live in any other developed city, the situation is about the same wherever you are.

So, what remains is the Big Question.
Because if everything is going to be eliminated and eroded by all these changes, "Then what's going to survive in the Air Era?"
And what is going to remain for us to do in our jobs?

So the big disclaimer here is that

look, I'm not an expert on labour laws or anything. I'm just an Astrologer.
And, I haven't actually had a 'job' in the last 15 years. So you know, go figure right?

Plus, you know, recently I tried out an AI tool that my student recommended to test and see
how easily you'll be replaced by AI.

And apparently, there's a 8.7 out of 10 chance that I will be be replaced by AI.

So you know the thing is, none of us here are immune to this.
So, the only difference here is that, I think I spent a lot of time staring at planetary movements in the sky, and also thinking about where humanity is going to go especially with all these changes happening in the world.

So, without any further ado, here are my ideas on what careers and areas where humans can still be useful in the Air Ara.

Okay, so now my ideas are targeted at the regular normal person with a regular normal job and a regular normal life right?
So basically, what I'm about to say here is not for the people who are like tech-bro geniuses,or if you are like some biomedical wonderkid right?
Then, I'm pretty sure you have a bright future with some American MNC you know?

But, I'm talking about just about everybody else, who's like a mere mortal.
Okay so basically, these are the things that I think you regular folk should really be thinking about. So there are 3 things.

#1: 'Physical Service'

The first one on my list is called; 'Physical Service'

Now, this is a very broad category.
But it really refers to things that you need somebody to come and do it for you.
So, obvious examples include Jeffrey Hinton's recommendation of; Plumber.
He said that in "Diary of a CEO".
Now, Hairdressers, Gardeners, Makeup Artists, Massage Therapist, Personal Trainers, Dance Instructors, Aircon Contractors, etc.

So the idea being that you don't just need information from these people, you actually need something done for you, and the situation is unique to each customer.

So, you may also realise that most of these services are very personal.
You kind of need both the service provider and the customer to be in the same location. And to be with each other in most cases.

Now, the issue that most people grapple with when we talk about these 'Physical Service' options, is that you know, the usual things I'm hearing is that;
"Oh, this kind of service is not scalable"
"That you have to work long hours"
"You have to work with your hands"
"You have to go to a physical location"
or it's like
"Aiyah earn too little you know?"
"The money is too lousy"

Now, my response to this is that, if a job is scalable, doesn't require long hours, doesn't require working with your hands, doesn't require a physical location, then there's a very good chance that it is already replaced by automation and AI right?

So, now I would say the opposite is that most physical service jobs can be incredibly satisfying.
First, you get direct human contact.
And you also get to help someone with a real tangible issue that they are experiencing.
And you get to be the hero who solves their problems.
It's hard to do that and not feel purposeful.

So in fact, I would guarantee that for most people, any of these physical service jobs
is more purposeful than spending your day sending like 15 emails and attending like 4 meetings.
Plus, when most things are automated and done by robots in society, it does feel special when a human has decided to come and deliver what you need.
And I know that I would be happy to pay good money for that.

#2: 'Emotional Connection'

Okay, the second one on my list is called; 'Emotional Connection'

So, I know a lot of people use AI companions as your personal therapist.
And it's very convenient, because they are available 24/7, and they never get angry with you.

Heck, I'm an Astrologer.
And I know that people are using LLMs to interpret their astrology chart.
And you know, while I'm on that topic, can I just say that I actually like to stress-test LLMs for fun.
So, I put in astrological questions and I'll deliberately make things difficult.
And let me tell you, those LLMs they give wrong answers most of the time. Just so you know.

But, the thing is now these AI companions they can mimic, they can copy.
they can reproduce what they think a human connection is.
But the reality is, you are talking to a bot that is incapable of producing empathy by definition.

So, if you are going through a divorce (for example).
The bot will never have experienced anything like that.

And sometimes, what you need is to open up to another human who has had a similar experience.

So professions that will still be in demand specifically for their emotional connection, will include things like Therapists, Counsellors, Psychologists, Coaches, Mentors, Teachers, Befrienders, Community Leaders and that's just to name a few.

So, when we are surrounded by screens and robotic AI voices, I don't know about you, but I actually start to appreciate
a real authentic conversation much more than before.

#3: 'Third Spaces'

So, the third thing on my list is called 'Third Spaces'

So, a 'Third Space' is defined as a place for people to go to that is neither a workplace nor a home.
The idea being that you go there to be social with others, just to hang out.
Classic examples include things like the local pub, or the neighbourhood park, or the basketball court, and like various other community and hobby spaces.

And I think that there is a fundamental misunderstanding about Third Spaces.
Because it's not a 'place' per se
And it's not defined by how many people are there.

Now, I live in Singapore and we literally have hundreds of shopping malls, underground walkways, overground walkways, and they're just crawling with hundreds and thousands of people at any one time.
But no one is really interacting with each other.

So, unless you go to a shopping mall with your friends, or your family - whom you already know.
It's quite possible to spend hours in the shopping mall without sharing a word or a smile with anybody.

A good Third Space should allow people to interact, to build friendships, to listen to each other and to learn from each other.
I think that as jobs begin to erode, people will naturally have more free time on your hands.
So of course. this could mean that more people stay at home watching Netflix, or they are playing mobile games on their phone.

But, I also strongly believe that people are sick and tired of looking at screens.
They want to hang out with other people and to take up an activity.

So, good Third Spaces will include;
Cooking classes, Community classrooms, where people are sharing their skills and their stories, Sports venues for badminton, basketball, pickleball, Board Game Cafes, Language Cafes, Community Picnics, Bazaars where people are selling their handicrafts, Dancing groups, Volunteering groups, etc.

And this is a great opportunity for you to pick up skills, share your skills, even make some money from selling your abilities
and your homemade products.

Most importantly, it emphasises an 'Air Era' concept which is "Social Community".

So to recap, if you are not a genius tech-bro, and you think, (or you know) that you are going to be replaced by automation in the coming years, then yes, it's time to start looking at other options.

And today, I've already shared 3 areas that you can look into which are; 'Physical Service', 'Emotional Connection' and 'Third Spaces'.

Now of course, within each category there are many options and many ways to build a realm for yourself too, and each person will engage in your own unique way.

So recently, I created a new programme called; The Air Era Mastermind.
And it aims to help persons like yourself, planning for your Air Era transition, to decide on what your natural skills are, who your natural communities are.
And most importantly, I aim for this programme to be a dynamic Third Space, where you can meet other people who are also on this journey too and you can find valuable collaborators, and potential solid friends,

So, if you find this relevant and exciting for you on your journey,
Click on the link in the description to sign up.

In fact, I'm only doing very limited sessions of this particular programme in the year 2026.

Otherwise, good luck on your transition to the Air Era and I'll see you guys in the next video.
